Detailed instructions for the measures that students must take inside and outside the classrooms were issued by EODY , while the countdown for the opening of schools on September 14 has already begun.At the same time, useful instructions are given for dealing with possible situations at school, such as what the child can do if the antiseptic ends or what he can do before entering the classroom.The purpose of the instructions is to inform teachers and other school staff in the country (and through them and students and their families) about the reopening of schools from September 2020, COVID-19 infection, measures to prevent spread of the virus, the necessary actions in case of a suspected case of COVID-19 infection and generally the safe reopening of schools.

However, other forms of operation (eg. distance online teaching combined with alternate school attendance of some students) may be required if epidemiological data change – either across the
country or in individual heavier areas – and arrangements can be made to this effect if necessary.The safe operation of schools is essential to prevent the spread of the virus in schools as much as possible. It is also extremely important, in case of outbreaks in a school unit, to avoid its spread, in order to reduce the number of secondary cases, especially in people belonging to vulnerable groups of the population. In addition to the general instructions, EODY, gives instructions for personal hygiene , refers to the observance of social distances and environmental measures, as well as the operation of school canteens and of course the use of a mask.

Suspicious symptoms
The EODY instructions also describe the suspicious symptoms of COVID-19 in children. As indicated,the most common symptoms of COVID-19 infection in children are fever and cough . Other symptoms that may occur are:

• Myalgia
• Chills
• Headache
• Dysphagia
• Runny nose / congestion
• Nausea / vomiting
• Abdominal pain, diarrhea

The instructions of EODY for the Kindergartens
According to EODY, it is important to systematically educate children with repetitive activities to implement precautionary measures to familiarize young children, in a suitable way for all ages. One of the measures to prevent the introduction of the virus in the Kindergarten, is that all children and staff members who have a fever and / or other symptoms compatible with Covid-19 infection, are prohibited from attending the Kindergarten. In these cases, family communication with a physician and individualized evaluation of the laboratory test for virus detection are recommended.

As for measures to limit close contact between children, staff and parents / guardians, the main measure to limit close contact for young children, and especially Kindergarten children, is to divide them into small groups consisting of same children and do not mix with each other. The exact way of applying this measure depends on the conditions of each individual space.Regarding the observance of the rules of personal hygiene, the children will be educated according to the possibilities of their age and there will be a systematic application of the hand hygiene. A prerequisite is the provision of infrastructure and materials , such as washbasins with running water and liquid soap as well as alcoholic antiseptic solutions that will always be applied with adult supervision or assistance. At the same time, the programs of space cleaning and cleaning and / or application of disinfectant on surfaces, objects and equipment are strengthened. Please note that children should NOT bring toys to Kindergarten (eg. balls, dolls, etc.).

The instructions of EODY for Primary Schools
According to the EODY, it is important to systematically educate children, by demonstrating how to implement precautionary measures, by making children familiar with the supervision of teachers, by explaining the logic of the measures in conjunction with the discussion of the characteristics of the virus and of the disease in a  suitable way for all ages.In each school unit, the necessary arrangements must be made so that staff members belonging to high-risk groups undertake tasks that have a very low risk of exposure or do not require attendance at school.

Children and staff with fever and / or other symptoms compatible with COVID-19 infection should not be allowed to attend school. It is recommended to the parents to check the children for possible symptoms (possibly with a thermometer) before leaving the house. Each school unit should systematically record reports of COVID-19 compatible symptoms in children and / or staff members and monitor their progress. In addition, special reference is made to the rules of personal hygiene, as well as to the observance of social distances and environmental measures.

The guidelines of EODY for Secondary Education
As in Kindergartens and Primary Schools, so in Secondary Education, the systematic education of children is important, with a demonstration of the implementation of precautionary measures, with practical acquaintance of children under the supervision of teachers. The parents must control their children for possible symptoms (possibly with a thermometer) before leaving home. Also, as in the smaller classes, High School and Lyceum students should avoid sharing pencils, pens, markers and other personal items. Each child should use only their own objects. It is also recommended to apply an alcoholic antiseptic solution before and after using equipment such as a computer keyboard, in case it is shared. For the better education of the children, posters or pictures can be placed in various areas of the school with the appropriate way of applying the personal hygiene measures.
