An anchored Swiss-flagged sailboat was blown away by strong winds and crashed onto a rocky shore in the sea area of Schinos, east of Ithaca. The two occupants of the boat disembarked on their own on the shore and are in good health. Strong winds of 8 Beaufort blow in the maritime zone where the sailboat is located.
Coastal transport issues
The Kyllini – Zakynthos and Kyllini – Kefalonia lines remain closed, due to the strong winds that blow today in many parts of western Greece. The Rio – Antirrio ferry line is also closed. According to EMY, the westerly winds blow to the west northwest 6 to 7 and in the Ionians 8 to 9 beauforts and locally 10 beauforts with a progressive weakening.
The state machine is on alert
The state machine has been on alert since Thursday to face the problems that will be created by the launch of the Mediterranean cyclone “Janos”, which has already started to affect our country. The focus is on Friday morning Zakynthos, Kefalonia and Ithaca, where there are rains accompanied by strong winds.
Bad weather “struck” during the night and Etoloakarnania, Ilia, Achaia, Arcadia and Messinia. Several problems have already arisen during the electrification of the citizens of Ithaca, Kefalonia and Zakynthos. The latest estimates, however, refer to a partial displacement of the course of Janus, and is not expected to enter the Peloponnese, but will move south.
