Ankara: Greek government plane over the Turkish-Iraqi border in the air last night for 20 minutes

Ankara continues the “war of nerves” which ERT said kept the Greek government plane over the Turkish-Iraqi border in the air last night for 20 minutes. According to state television, Ankara  initially refused to grant an overflight permit to the boat carrying Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias from Iraq to Athens.

The pilots had normally obtained the required permits from the Turkish authorities, but as they approached the border they refused to approve the overflight permit.

Thus, the plane with the Greek Foreign Minister was forced to fly over the area for about 20 minutes, a period during which, according to ERT, the “intense” communications of the pilots of the plane with the Turkish authorities took place.
