Golden Dawn: Prosecutor requests that those sentenced to prison should be allowed to remain free until their appeals are heard

All former deputies of the Greek neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party who have been found guilty and sentenced to prison for leading or participating in a criminal group should be allowed to remain free until their appeals are heard, said Madam Adamantia Economou, the prosecutor. She also called the attacks on her personality in response to her recommendations “immoral”.

Presiding Judge Maria Lepeniotou on Tuesday challenged Economou’s call to suspend the trial, stressing that she was unaware that 11 of the 57 convicted had criminal records, some for serious crimes including those guilty of punishable manslaughter and injury bodily graves.
