Today and tomorrow, the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou will pay a two-day visit to Kastelorizo, as part of the celebrations of the 77th anniversary of the liberation of the island. The visit of the President of the Republic to the island seems to have caused inconvenience in Ankara, which is also reflected in the Turkish press.
Ms. Sakellaropoulou arrived in Kastelorizo on Sunday morning to attend the eulogy at the Church of Saints Constantine and Helena and will then lay a wreath at the monument of the dear deceased. Although there were concerns about possible Turkish provocations during the President’s trip to Kastelorizo, these fears were not confirmed.
Later in the day, the President of the Republic will visit the Navy ships located in the port of Kastelorizo, while she will lay also a wreath at the monument of the “Lady of Ro” in Ro. In the afternoon she will visit the places of cultural interest of the island.
