Greek Migration and Asylum Minister Notis Mitarachi reiterated that “Greece is not participating in the so-called push-backs”. His Twitter post follows an announcement by the European Union’s border agency, Frontex, that it was investigating reports of illegal refoulements of migrants and refugees in the Aegean Sea.
We are convinced, and always have been, that Greece does not participate in what are called push-backs. We protect our borders in accordance with international law. And we continue to save hundreds of migrants every month from Mediterranean waters.
Migrants exploited by unscrupulous traffickers. We welcome @ylvajohansson who calls a @frontex meeting to look into the alleged pushback allegations in order to set the record straight.
