Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the new measures that came into effect today Saturday (6 a.m.)

The two new measures announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the coronavirus pandemic through his sermon to the Greek people on Thursday afternoon, concern the “red” and “orange” zones and are: the compulsory use of a mask everywhere and the traffic ban after 12:30 p.m. from midnight to 5 a.m in the morning. The new measures went into effect at dawn on Saturday (6 a.m.). The coming weeks are seen as particularly critical for the pandemic as maintaining cases at high triple-digit levels (841 Friday) is expected to further increase pressure on hospitals nationwide.

The new, stricter measures have taken effect in Attica due to the worrying spread of the coronavirus. In particular, from today, the use of a mask is mandatory everywhere while from 12:30 at night until 5 in the morning, traffic is prohibited. The citizens of Attica seem to have adapted to the use of the mask quite easily because in central Athens almost everyone wears it, as can be seen in these photos. However, there are areas in which citizens appear not to fully comply at the moment.
