Dozens of refugees continue to sleep in the open air in the streets of Victoria Square in central Athens despite a decision by the Migration Ministry earlier this year to bring thousands of refugees to the mainland in order to decongest island camps .
“All these people are exhausted. We feel their pain. We are also human beings, even though we have companies that do not have customers because people are afraid to come here, ”said Haris Koureas, owner of a café for 35 years.
He said he had never felt fear. “We just want the problem of people in the square fixed so that we also feel more comfortable and that they do not feel trapped,” he added.
