The accused appealed the appeal decision to the Supreme Court on the grounds that he had not wrongly awarded them compensation. The appeal was allowed by the Supreme Court of Cassation, which resulted in the referral of the case to the Court of Appeal, but only as regards the part of the granting of mitigation, which ultimately been granted. As a result of this development, the accused are expected to be released from prison shortly after serving nine years.
The ill-fated psychiatrist was found dead in a pool of blood outside his parked vehicle, with repeated stab wounds to various parts of his body.
