Wearing face masks is mandatory in classroom

According to information on the Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD) being drafted by the General Secretariat of the Government, students who do not wear a face mask will not be allowed to enter their class.

The JMD is fleshing out all the details on new measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the new school year and providing legal coverage for teachers who will need to implement these rules.

The problem, of course, is how teachers are going to treat parents who vehemently reject the use of masks for their children.

Some parents of schools in the Attica region have already submitted a request to exclude their children from the mask rule.

Some of them even claimed in their request that the use of a face mask was part of an experiment “for biomedical purposes”.

According to the same information, the JMD does not provide any special leave for vulnerable groups. People deemed vulnerable will work from home, telework or remotely/distance learning.
